The
Music Factory Entertainment Group Ltd, traditionally a content provider
to the music industry are now delivering local careers advice and
guidance to young people as they develop the Investors in Education
programme.
Young
people can now experience education and training which are relevant
and purposeful to the world of work, delivered in ways that appeal
to this young `technology-savvy` audience through a project being
developed with RMBC, part funded by Objective 1 through the European
Regional Development Fund. They can now experience it from an award
winning company...... WINNER of the Innovation through ICT Award
sponsored by Sheffield Technology Parks!

The
Rotherham Business Awards 2005
Again for our work
on Investors in Education in conjunction with Rotherham Chamber and local
businesses, through a project being developed with RMBC, part funded by
Objective 1 through the European Regional Development Fund, WINNER of
the ICT Award sponsored by Business Link South Yorkshire and WINNER of
the Business in Partnership with the Community Award.

Edge
Employer Awards 2005
For providing outstanding
work experience opportunities for young people again through our development
of Investors in Education, promoting employers to work more pro actively
with local schools and a method of delivering relevant local careers advice
and guidance to young people across Rotherham's schools and colleges.
WINNER of the medium sized category Edge Employer Award.

Chamber
of the Year
Rotherham Chamber
has been named 'Chamber of the Year' and also received the 'Excellence
Award for Innovative Networking' at the 2005 National Chamber Awards.
Professor Stephen
Hagen, Director of the Mercia Institute of Enterprise and Chairman of
the Chamber Awards said, "What makes Rotherham Chamber of Commerce
stand out is its incredible growth of 38% over 2 years. The Women in Work
initiative, ATHENA and their support for educating children about business
have both been superb. Its determination to succeed, whilst supporting
its local community, makes it second to none. All in all, Rotherham Chamber
showed all round excellence and a real passion which is why the judges
chose them as the Chamber of the Year".
The following are ongoing projects
Music Factory have been commissioned to do incorporating Investors in
Education.

In
association with the Music Factory Entertainment Group, Rotherham
Chamber of Commerce, Rotherham Children & Young People's Services
Over 750 year 12 and 13 students from Rotherham schools and college
recently took part in an enterprise challenge called "Let's
Do Business" at Liquid Diva and Magna Science Adventure Centre.
The event encouraged students to work with local business entrepreneurs,
enabling them to take an actual product or service from a Rotherham
business to market.
This project was supported by many Rotherham businesses who attended
the 3 enterprise days. |

Doncaster
Framework for a Careers One-Stop Shop
In
association with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council
To
develop a framework and methodology to enable young people within
Doncaster schools and colleges to access compelling, relevant and
up to date advice and guidance, in line with Doncaster’s key
economic growth sectors. The content will be delivered via interactive
DVD-Roms focusing on 3 key industry sectors - Creative & Digital
Industries, Construction and Business & Professional Services
within Doncaster.
Work
is currently ongoing to engage businesses within the above sectors
and (non localized) filming to showcase the scope of opportunities
available, together with localized case studies showing individual
career progression. |

Rotherham
Employer Engagement Project
A
3 year project to create a step change in the relationship between
young people aged 14-19 and local employers.
Work is ongoing to engage 500 local employers to support young people
by offering work based learning opportunities, mentoring and curriculum
support. Further to that to create 1000 practical learning opportunities
within the growth sectors of Creative and Digital, Manufacturing
and Engineering, Construction, Health and Social Care, Leisure and
Tourism, Business / Retail, for young people to engage with local
employers either within school or college, or at an event within
the work place.
Music
Factory are also developing an E-enabled infrastructure which provides
young people with an interactive resource showcasing growth sector
areas, local business information and career pathways. |
